Top 10 Life Balancing Practices



Throughout time, one of the most challenging things for people has been the art of practicing balance. Especially nowadays; we are all so busy trying to keep up with our ever-growing fast paced lives, that practicing the main thing that creates peace and happiness….Balance…. can seem impossible.

One of the cool things I have experienced since heading into my 40’s is the ability to slow down & work on this practice. I started by writing down a list of the top 10 things that I feel are most important to do everyday if you want a full, peaceful, and balanced life. Then I started reading this list every morning when I woke, & implementing it into my everyday life. I cannot tell you how much of a game changer this endeavor has turned out to be. The peace I experience in my life, as compared to before this practice, is quite indescribable. So with that said, here is my list of the top 10 things I think WE ALL should get to work on everyday…

  1. Get deep restful sleep every night.

  • This means making a FULL nights rest a priority. Phone away from your body, no TV at least 30 mins prior to bed, use of essential oils if needed..etc.

2. Meditate for at least 5 mins a day.

  • For most of us, the only time we are still and quiet, is when we are sleeping. Spend at least 5 mins a day in a quiet, still, and with yopurself. The benefits are endless.

3. Fuel your body with proper macronutrients.

  • Macros are your carbs, fats, and proteins. Each day, to function properly, your body needs these 3 components. So when you are cooking or eating out, make eating macro balanced meals a priority.

4. Eat humanely.

  • Unless you live under a rock, you know all about how our animals are treated when being killed for our benefit. The LEAST we can do it take an extra step each day to eat humanely raised and killed meat. Ask the meat dept for step 4 or higher, go to your farmers market..thats a good place to start.

5. Move your body.

  • Ever heard the term “If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it”? Well…its true. Find what moves you…and move it! Every day.

6. Practice minimalism.

  • Consumption is the biggest & most evil practice we Americans are brain washed by. We fill our voids everyday by spending countless dollars on things we just DO NOT need. Living “minimally” is one of the most liberating & stress reducing things you’ll ever do…I swear it. Oh, and you might help save the planet while you’re at it.

7. Laugh….Everyday.

  • Fill your days with laughter, and your life will fill its days with joy. Laughing promotes relaxation, boosts immune system, improves your mood, & even prevents heart disease.

8. Get away at least once a year…With NO kids.

  • Even if you love being with your kids! It is so important as we age to keep our sense of autonomy, and recharge your heart, mind, and spirit, so you can be a better person when you get back to your daily life.

9. Practice being kind.

  • Each day, lead with kindness. In those moments where you are normally conditioned to say something negative or have a negative perspective….those are the best opportunities to turn that conditioning inside out and lead with kindness.

10. Each day, do something that scares you.

  • I’m not saying you need to search out cliff jumping here. This could be as little as saying something kind to a stranger, if you’d normally be shy. Or as big as cliff jumping!..lol. But each day, take a growth stretch. Scary in the moment…. Profound for your life.
